Journal of Critical Public Health

Announcing Journal of Critical Public Health, published by the Critical Public Health Network

Journal of Critical Public Health (JCPH) is an international peer-reviewed journal publishing critically engaged research in public health, health promotion, political economy of health, and related fields. In respect to the collective input of colleagues who founded and published our predecessors, Radical Community Medicine and Critical Public Health, Journal of Critical Public Health (JCPH) continues the tradition of providing a dedicated forum for rigorous analyses of theory and practice to explore issues of equity, power, social justice, and oppression in public health. JCPH covers contemporary empirical and theoretical work from a wide range of disciplines including anthropology, sociology, politics and policy studies, cultural studies, health studies, and others embracing a critical stance.

Journal of Critical Public Health (JCPH) is open for submissions – see here

Journal of Critical Public Health (JCPH) is a new journal. In July of 2023, the editorial board of Critical Public Health (CPH), (which was owned and published by Taylor & Francis), resigned en masse in collective protest against the for-profit orientation and the corresponding erosion of editorial control, which made it impossible to maintain academic publishing as a platform for critical scholarship in the service of public health scholar-activists, as described in an editorial available here.
